Even the Aloha has to come to an end

August 11th                                                                                                    day 10
We had a somewhat leisurely morning and then headed out to Black Rock for a snorkel.  After some a first failed attempt to find parking, we did end up snagging a free spot on the beach access lot.  It was a some great snorkeling with a couple of turtles, one good sized on close to shore.  We also saw some great fish on the snorkel.  After the snorkel we hung at the beach a bit before heading to Hula Grill for a pre dive dinner.
That night Dan and Chris headed out on a night dive to Lanai.  It was a great dive seeing things they hadn’t seen before.  One of the highlights was seeing a squid.  In addition we saw some types of shrimp we hadn’t seen before, a lot of lobster and one of the largest Moray’s we’ve ever seen.  Another very cool sight was a parrot fish asleep for the night covered in it’s cocoon of mucus.

August 12th                                                                                                    day 11
We headed out early to breakfast on Napili.  We tried the Gazebo but it was to packed so we headed over to the Sea Horse for breakfast.  After breakfast Dan and Em went snorkeling, where we saw lots of fish, but no Turtles.  The kids loved playing on the  beach, floating in the waves and body surfing on the big waves.  Later in the day we went to the left side of the beach and watched about 4 turtles feeding on the rocks.

Later that day, around dusk, Laura and Dan went on a dive at Mala Ramp.  We saw another turtle while diving with lots of fish and coral.  Nothing to extraordinary, but a good dive nonetheless.

August 13th                                                                                                    day 12
We started with a quick Snorkel at Ali’I Kahekili in the morning.  Saw a fair number of fish, some which we hadn’t seen before.  The reef there is quite good and you can just float over the coral for long periods of time.  We followed this up by lunch at Cool Cat café.  The Zip line got cancelled so Alex and I couldn’t do it.  Laura went with the Hancock’s to the Aquarium while Alex hung with us and we walked Lahaina and just kind of chilled out for the afternoon..

August 14th                                                                                                    day 13
We had a great beach day at Kapalua. Dan did a big snorkel with Em first, then a dive with Laura, and then a big snorkel with Alex.  On the snorkel with Em we saw a couple of free-swimming eels and tons of fish.  With Laura we had a great turtle encounter.  A Large male was swimming around us, almost touching Dan.  We have a great shot of the turtle.  During the second snorkel, Alex and I saw a great puffer fish in addition to all the normal great tropical fish.

Em, Dan, Susan and Chris went to Merriman’s for dinner while the girls watched a movie in the room.  It was a great dinner with a great view.

August 15h                                                                                                    day 14
Dan took the girls jet skiing at Canoe beach.  Jet skiing on the open ocean is little different than on a lake, but was loads of fun for the girls.

Dan and Em walked the Kapalua trail that starts at Kapalua beach, goes around a very scenic rock point, across Oneloa Bay (and it’s beautiful sand beach and amazing villa homes, through the Ritz Carleton property down to D.T. Fleming beach, another great sand beach.  There were amazing views along the way.

For the final night we did Cheeseburger in Paradise for dinner.

August 16th                                                                                                    day 15
We are headed home today.
