Florida's Gulf Coast
We left Orlando on Friday morning to head to Destin, Florida with Terri, Paul and the boys. It's about 7 hours with no stops. We stopped. It took us about 10 hours. First stop was Tallahassee for a leisurely lunch since we hadn't been there before. After lunch we decided rather than hitting I-10 again we would take a more scenic route that hit the Gulf down by Panama City. We stopped here and went down to the beach to test out the waters. We then followed the road along the water for several miles. After a slow beach drive we arrived at the resort in Destin. That evening we explored the Harbor Walk Village attached to the resort and had some dinner.
On Saturday we hit the beach. We went to the semi-private beach the resort has set up for guests and stayed there most of the day. We all snorkeled a little and generally just played in the water. The girls enjoyed playing in the water with the boys and getting some sun. Unfortunately we got a little too much sun, some more than others. That night we again hit the Harbor Walk where Alex(ander) did the zip-line before dinner and Laura and both boys did a bungee trampoline ride and a ride that consisted of being in a big inflated ball that was on water and you tried to maneuver and crash into each other.
On Sunday we decided to try a different beach. We went to Seaside Florida, which was worth the drive because it had a great beach with beautiful clear water. Paul, Terri and the boys saw some sting rays while snorkeling so Alex and I went out and also saw one so that was pretty cool. Everyone enjoyed the beach a great deal. We had a late lunch at a beach side pizza place and because we dramatically over-dosed Alex's insulin for Pizza we were forced to go for ice cream afterward to make sure she consumed enough carbs. It was tragic. After that the ladies did a little shopping in Seaside before heading home. They are all down at Harbor Walk while I am hanging out on our balcony.
Off to New Orleans tomorrow!!
