Nashville Day 1

Our first day in Nashville we slept in and were a bit lazy in the morning.

Then we headed to the Hermitage and learned more about out 7th President. It was a nice tie in as we learned a bit about Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans in NOLA. We got to pay our respects at his gravesite, affectionately known as another stop on Dan's dead president tour. It is interesting to reflect on how a single person can do a lot of good and be brilliant and visionary at times and also have unsavory or even unacceptable bits as well.

Everyone was hungry after our visit to 1837. Laura requested BBQ. The first stop was 21+ ( we encountered this a lot!) so we decided to try Caney Fork. It was quite the adventure. There we sampled alligator and catfish for appetizers as well as corn fritters. Corn fritters got thumbs up. Gator and catfish received mixed reviews but no raves. Then we dug into falling off the bone, juicy, tender, flavorful ribs!
