Nashville, day 2

On Day 2 of Nashville we started by heading downtown to see the full scale replica of the Parthenon. It was fun to see but nothing super exciting. It is located in Centennial Park and we were hoping it would be a nice downtown park to walk through but quite honestly it wasn't. It needs a lot of work to make it a nice place to want to be at.

After that we headed over to Vanderbilt University and did a part drive part walking tour of the Campus. It was a lovely campus but not nearly as beautiful as Tulane.

After that we headed down towards lower Broadway where all the honky-tonks are as well as boot shops and other tourist shops are. Alex had fun looking at boots and Laura had fun looking at clothes. We did not actually go into the honky-tonks as the girls aren't 21 and they just aren't our scene but as you walk by you can hear the music and see inside as most fronts are opened up during the day. It's kind of like a big Bourbon Street.

We met my cousin Joanna and my aunt Wanda for lunch down there and had a great long lunch with them doing some catching up as it's been many years since I had seen them. After lunch we all did the Country Music Hall of Fame together. It was interesting and we learned about the Bakersfield CA influence on country music in the Dust Bowl era. After that we all got ice cream and then said our good byes.

Evening was pretty quiet as there was another thunderstorm, Washington thunderstorms pale in comparison, so we hit the Opry Mills mall the girls didn't find anything so we called it a night.
